CAES

CAES is a slow-fashion label founded in Amsterdam in 2019 by Dutch designer Helen de Kluiver, who left a conventional design job to work outside the seasonal calendar. The name refers to clothing as a protective case for the body. Collections arrive as two to three numbered editions each year, with styles carried over between them, and centre on minimalist tailoring, poplin shirting, knitwear and outerwear in muted natural tones. Materials include organic and recycled fibres, agricultural by-products and cactus leather. Sold via SSENSE and independent boutiques.
