What to know about Launer London
Launer London is a British maker of luxury handbags and small leather goods, founded in 1940 by Czech émigré Sam Launer in a rented Soho workshop. Businessman Gerald Bodmer bought the struggling company in 1981 and remains owner; manufacturing stays in England, with headquarters in Warlingham, Croydon. Structured bags such as the Traviata and Judi are handmade in calf, suede and exotic skins and finished with the signature twisted-rope emblem. Queen Elizabeth II granted a royal warrant in 1968 and carried the bags for decades. Mainline prices run roughly £2,300–£3,500.
