Mikimoto

Mikimoto is a Japanese pearl jewelry house founded by Kokichi Mikimoto, who cultivated the first cultured pearls at Toba in 1893 and opened his Ginza store in 1899. Now K. Mikimoto & Co., headquartered in Tokyo, it remains independent and vertically integrated, operating its own akoya farms, in-house grading standards and Japanese ateliers. The line centers on graduated akoya strands, single-pearl studs and pendants, and pearl-and-diamond high jewelry, extended by a long-running Comme des Garçons collaboration that reworks strands into rope and pin forms.
