The RealReal runs the largest online marketplace for authenticated luxury resale, matching consignors with buyers across ready-to-wear, handbags, footwear, fine jewelry, watches and accessories. Founded in 2011 by Julie Wainwright in San Francisco and listed on Nasdaq since 2019, it employs in-house authenticators who verify, price, photograph and ship each item. Under CEO Rati Sahi Levesque the business has pivoted from growth to profitability, with gross merchandise value surpassing $2 billion in 2025. It also operates about 17 US consignment offices and stores, including a San Francisco flagship.
