What to know about Van Heusen
Van Heusen is an American menswear label built on dress shirting, tracing to 1881 when Moses and Isaac Phillips sold hand-sewn shirts to Pottsville, Pennsylvania coal miners. Its defining moment came in 1919, when John Manning Van Heusen patented a fused, curve-cut soft-folding collar, forming the Phillips-Van Heusen alliance. The range now spans wrinkle-free and stretch dress shirts, suit separates, knit polos, sweaters and accessories at mass-market prices. PVH sold the trademark to Authentic Brands Group in August 2021; licensees including GCE International produce and distribute the line.
