Matteau

Matteau is an Australian label founded in 2015 by sisters Ilona Hamer and Peta Heinsen, who started it after failing to find a simple, flattering black bikini. The Sydney-rooted brand builds seasonless swim and resort ready-to-wear around pared-back shapes: scoop and petite bikini tops, high-cut maillots, poplin shirting, linen dresses and light knitwear in muted solids with occasional small florals. Production has centred on Australia, and the founders fit designs on friends and family to check they work across body types.
