About disco

Finding good brands shouldn't be this hard.

Disco started as my own search for brands I didn't already know. Today, it's a growing map of thousands of fashion labels, built to help you discover what to wear next.

It started with Norse Projects.

In 2022, I was looking for brands like Norse Projects.

I loved discovering new labels, but finding genuinely interesting alternatives was surprisingly difficult. Search tended to return the same familiar names, while smaller independent brands were scattered across retailers, forums, shops and different corners of the internet.

So I started keeping track of them.

What began as a list slowly became a map: which brands felt similar, where they differed, what they were known for, how much they cost, and where someone who liked one brand might want to look next.

That map became Disco.

Today

From a list to a map.

As the collection grew, we started structuring what we knew about each brand: style, products, price, origin, fit and the brands it shared something with.

Eventually, we developed our own similarity system to help identify those relationships at a much larger scale.

Today, Disco maps 3,000+ brands and uses that growing dataset to power brand recommendations, comparisons, fit information, shopping guides and other ways of discovering what comes next.

But the goal hasn't really changed:

Help you start with something you already like and find somewhere new to go from there.

Who

Built independently.

Disco is an independent project I've been building since 2022.

I'm still closely involved in the research, curation and product behind the site. A lot has changed since that first list of brands, but the thing I enjoy most about Disco is still the same: finding something I didn't know existed yesterday.
