45R is a Japanese clothing label founded in 1977 by designer Yasumi Inoue and run by Tokyo-based 45rpm Studio Co., Ltd. It started out as 45rpm, named after the speed of a seven-inch record. The brand grew out of American casualwear and develops its own yarns and fabrics in-house. It is best known for natural Ai indigo dyeing, especially on jeans, T-shirts, bandanas and textured indigo knits. Everything is made in Japan and sold through its own stores in Japan and abroad, including San Francisco, and through its global webstore.
