Batsheva
Designer-led New York label reworking prairie and Victorian dress codes into naive-print, puff-sleeved dresses made in the city.
What to know about Batsheva
Batsheva is an independent New York womenswear label founded in 2016 by Batsheva Hay, a former lawyer who turned to design after a favorite vintage Laura Ashley dress proved unrepairable. The brand reworks American prairie and Victorian dress codes into high-necked, puff-sleeved dresses, ruffled blouses and tiered skirts in deliberately naive florals, leopard prints, velvet, PVC and holographic lame. Garments are made in New York and sold via the Elizabeth Street flagship, batsheva.com and stockists including Farfetch, Shopbop and Liberty. Hay shows at New York Fashion Week and collaborates with partners such as organic-textile maker Coyuchi.
