Black Sign is a Japanese heritage clothing label based in Nagoya, founded by vintage collector Takanori Okamoto, who also ran the city's Mom Pop Shop. The brand reinterprets American and European workwear, military and civilian dress from the Victorian era through the 1950s, using rare fabrics, 14oz selvedge denim, jacquard weaves and period construction, with pared-back detailing and a largely black palette. Collections drop twice yearly and span jackets, vests, shirts, trousers, caps and engineer boots. It sells through the Main Lodge flagship in Nagoya and specialist stockists worldwide.
