Clergerie is a French footwear house founded in 1981 by Robert Clergerie, who had spent years at Charles Jourdan and bought the Joseph Fenestrier factory in Romans-sur-Isère in 1978. The label built its reputation on menswear shapes cut for women — brogues, oxfords, derbies — alongside sculpted wedges, platforms and lug soles in leather, suede and raffia. Roland Mouret served as creative director from 2011; the house later shortened its name from Robert Clergerie. The range centers on loafers, sandals and boots, sold direct and through wholesalers including SSENSE.
