What to know about Devold
Devold is a Norwegian wool apparel brand founded in 1853 by Ole Andreas Devold in Ålesund and now based in Langevåg, Sunnmøre. It started out knitting hard-wearing garments for fishermen, labourers and seafarers, and later supplied polar explorers including Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen. Today it makes merino base layers, tees, socks and knitwear for outdoor life and active use, including the Expedition, Breeze and Lauparen lines and the classic navy-and-white Nordsjø sweater. A separate Devold Protection line makes certified wool workwear.
