Diotima

Diotima is a New York womenswear label founded in 2021 by Jamaican-born designer Rachel Scott, with collections designed and produced between Brooklyn and Kingston. Its signature is artisan hand-crochet and macramé made with Jamaican craftswomen who have practiced the techniques for generations, combined with Italian fabrics, sheer knits, fluid tailoring and denim. Dancehall and Caribbean dress codes recur each season, framed by Scott's argument about who gets counted as luxury. Scott, formerly VP of design at Rachel Comey, is also creative director of Proenza Schouler while continuing to lead Diotima.
