Dooney & Bourke is an American leather goods maker founded in Norwalk, Connecticut in 1975 by designer Peter Dooney and financier Frederic Bourke, who first sold men's belts, suspenders and ties before moving into women's handbags. Dooney has remained the label's designer throughout its history. The company is still privately held, with no reported sale or ownership change. Signature output centers on treated All-Weather Leather and Florentine leather satchels, hobos and totes with the brass duck tag, plus licensed collegiate, sports and Disney designs. Competitors include Coach and Kate Spade.
