grown&sewn is an independent American menswear label founded in 2009 by Rob Magness, a former Ralph Lauren design director, and based in Brooklyn's Columbia Street Waterfront District. The line grew out of the Foundation Pant, a chino reworked with the fit and hardware of denim, and now spans canvas and chambray work shirts, ringspun tees, French terry sweatshirts, canvas shorts and caps. Garments are cut and sewn in US factories, including a small Los Angeles knitwear mill. Foundation pants and work shirts retail around $245; tees start near $58. The brand sells direct online, wholesale via Faire, and from its Brooklyn shop.
