What to know about Hard Yakka
Hard Yakka is an Australian workwear brand that began when David K. Laidlaw made overalls and heavy-duty clothing in Brunswick, Victoria, trading as D. K. Laidlaw & Sons before taking the name from the Australian slang for hard work. It makes work pants, shorts, shirts, jackets, safety footwear and accessories for construction, manufacturing and agriculture. Pacific Brands bought the company in 2007 and sold it to Wesfarmers in 2014, and it now sits within the Workwear Group alongside KingGee. Its tough tradie pieces also get worn as everyday workwear-style clothing.
