Key Industries
KEY Apparel, the brand of Key Industries, has made workwear in Fort Scott, Kansas since C.A. Lakin and Harry McKey founded Lakin-McKey Manufacturing there in 1908. Its first product was a heavy-denim bib overall with triple-needle stitching, still a core item alongside dungarees, denim and duck work pants, work coats, insulated bibs and coveralls, shirts and pocket tees. The range now extends to hi-vis safety garments and a flame-resistant line for industrial trades. Distribution runs mainly through workwear dealers, uniform suppliers and farm-supply retailers rather than fashion channels.
