What to know about Mambo

Mambo is an Australian surf and streetwear label launched in Sydney in 1984 by Phantom Records founder Dare Jennings with partner Andrew Rich. It brought art and humour to a logo-driven surf industry, commissioning artists such as Reg Mombassa, Gerry Wedd and Maria Kozic for loud printed button-up shirts, graphic tees and board shorts, fronted by Richard Allen's farting-dog logo. Now a subsidiary of Caprice Australia, it sells as a budget line at retailer Big W, with tees around AU$20, while vintage Loud Shirts trade as collectibles.
