Manduka
Manduka makes yoga mats, towels, props and apparel. Yoga teacher and architect Peter Sterios founded it in 1997, selling the German-made Black Mat PRO from his California garage. The PRO, a dense closed-cell mat with a lifetime guarantee, is still the core product, joined by the lighter PROlite, natural-rubber eKO mats, Yogitoes skidless towels (acquired 2013), blocks, straps and studio apparel. Recent focus is circularity, including a 2024 SuperCircle program for recycling worn mats. Cabot Hosiery Mills, parent of Darn Tough, acquired the company in 2024.
