What to know about Marithé + François Girbaud
Marithé + François Girbaud is a Paris denim label founded in 1972 by designers Marithé Bachellerie and François Girbaud. It helped industrialise stonewashing and is known for baggy jeans with M+FG tabs, Shuttle tape jeans and convertible zip outerwear, all with deep roots in hip-hop. The original company went bankrupt in 2012. The founders still own the brand, and a licence with We Care About brought it back to Europe and the US in late 2023. Layer runs the licence in Korea and Asia. In 2025 the brand released a capsule with Supreme.
