What to know about Ocean Pacific

Ocean Pacific, known as OP, is the Southern California surf-and-beach label founded in 1972 by surfboard maker Jim Jenks, who started with corduroy walking shorts before expanding into graphic tees, fleece, swimwear and footwear. Its block OP monogram and neon, geometric 1980s prints defined mall-surf style for a generation of surfers and skaters. The brand is now a licensing property of Iconix Brand Group, which bought it from Warnaco for about $54 million in 2006; Iconix went private under Lancer Capital in 2021. Product sells through mass retail at entry prices.
