Rainbow Sandals

Rainbow Sandals makes leather, hemp and rubber flip-flops from San Clemente, California. Jay "Sparky" Longley began experimenting in a Laguna Beach garage in 1972 and incorporated the company in 1974, aiming to build a sandal that never wears out. Signature single- and double-layer premier leather styles use double-stitched straps, box-X toe construction, triple-glued layers, an arch-support midsole and a lifetime warranty. Production runs between the San Clemente factory and overseas plants, with roughly 30 styles distributed from a 52,000-square-foot headquarters. The brand remains founder-led and independent, a surf-shop staple celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024.
