What to know about RE;CODE

Built from a conglomerate's leftovers

Kolon Industries FnC launched and still runs the label, feeding it deadstock garments, surplus fabric and industrial waste like airbags and car-seat leather.

Runs can be a handful

Because each piece depends on what material was salvaged, styles are made in limited numbers, sometimes only a few units, so sizing and repeats are unpredictable.

Clean tailoring, deliberately broken up

Suiting and denim arrive with deconstructed sleeves, asymmetric wraps, patchwork blazers and raw hems, at roughly 400,000-500,000 KRW through its stores and SSENSE.

Brand facts

RE;CODE is a Seoul upcycling label launched in March 2012 by Kolon Industries FnC, which still owns and operates it. A design collective rather than a single-designer house, it reconstructs the group's deadstock garments, surplus fabric and industrial waste such as airbags and car-seat leather into limited runs, sometimes only a handful per style. Collections pair clean tailoring and denim with deconstructed sleeves, asymmetric wraps, patchwork blazers and raw hems. Collaborations include Nike, Kia, BTS and designer Jiyong Kim. Pieces sell through its own stores and SSENSE, typically around 400,000-500,000 KRW.
