Santa Cruz Skateboards is an American skate brand founded in 1973 in Santa Cruz, California by surfers Richard Novak, Doug Haut and Jay Shuirman, whose initials form parent company NHS, Inc. Still independently owned and operating from Santa Cruz, it remains skateboarding's longest continuously running board company and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023. Its apparel line — graphic tees, hoodies, zip hoodies, tanks, fleece, caps and beanies in men's, women's and youth sizing — leans on heritage artwork including the Classic Dot, Screaming Hand and Jim Phillips illustrations. NHS also owns Independent, Creature, OJ and Mob Grip.
