Shoe City
Shoe City was a Baltimore-founded athletic footwear and streetwear chain, opened in 1949 as Eileen Shoes and rebranded Shoe City in 1980. Family-owned parent ESCO, Ltd. also ran the YCMC ("Your City, My City") banner and ycmc.com, stocking Nike, New Balance, Puma, Timberland and Under Armour sneakers plus casual apparel and accessories across 39 stores in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. A 2022 sale to Arklyz Group, owner of The Athlete's Foot, collapsed; ESCO filed Chapter 11 on March 31, 2023 and liquidated all locations by May 31, 2023.
