Hanifa
Hanifa is a Maryland-based womenswear label founded in 2011 by Kenyan-born, Congolese-American designer Anifa Mvuemba, sold direct-to-consumer online. Its output centers on body-conscious knit dresses, cut-out jumpsuits and tailored separates in saturated colors, with sizing extended to 3X. Mvuemba gained wide attention in 2020 with a 3D "ghost mannequin" digital runway for the Pink Label Congo collection, and later staged a show at Washington's National Portrait Gallery. In March 2026, after shipping delays from the November Hanifa Friday sale and customer backlash, Mvuemba paused production indefinitely; the site stays live and fulfills orders.
