Jamieson's of Shetland is a fifth-generation family knitwear house founded by Robert Jamieson in Sandness, on Shetland's west mainland. It runs the islands' only commercial woollen mill, grading, scouring, dyeing, carding, spinning and knitting 100% pure Shetland wool under one roof since 1981. The range centres on Fair Isle crews, cardigans, vests, roll necks and accessories in speckled marl shades, made on both hand-frame and computerised Shima Seiki machines. Still independent and family-owned, it supplies yarn to hand knitters worldwide and stocks retailers including END. Prices typically run roughly $140-$250.
