Naadam
Naadam is a New York knitwear label founded in 2013 by college friends Matt Scanlan and Diederik Rijsemus, who buy raw cashmere directly from nomadic herders in Mongolia's Gobi Desert to cut out traders and brokers. The range covers crewnecks, cardigans, joggers, hats and scarves in plain, color-driven styling rather than trend pieces, priced well below traditional luxury cashmere. Scanlan remains CEO, the company sells online and through its own US stores, and it runs herder and grassland support work through the Naadam Bogd Fund.
