Paraboot is a French footwear manufacturer founded in 1908 in Izeaux by cobbler Rémy-Alexis Richard, who built the business with his wife Juliette Pontvert as Richard-Pontvert. Still family-owned and independent into its fourth generation, it makes shoes and boots at its factory in Saint-Jean-de-Moirans near the Alps, using Norwegian welt, Goodyear welt and Blake construction across roughly 150 hand steps. Signature models include the 1945 Michael moc-toe derby, the Chambord and the Avoriaz boot, usually on lugged rubber soles. Recent collaborators include Engineered Garments, Patou and Universal Works.
