Social Status
Social Status is a sneaker and streetwear retail chain owned by James Whitner's The Whitaker Group, which also operates A Ma Maniére, APB, Prosper and womenswear concept JAIDE. Its stores sit in Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Houston, Atlanta and other Southern and Rust Belt cities, stocking Nike, adidas, Asics and contemporary labels plus in-house apparel. A $5.5 million Detroit location opened in 2025 as a multiuse community hub with retail, courtyard and food. Recent projects include an exclusive Asics GEL-1130 and a Whitaker Group x adidas capsule.
