StockX is a Detroit-based online resale marketplace that prices sneakers, streetwear, accessories, collectibles and electronics through a bid-and-ask system modeled on stock exchanges, with public trade histories and price charts. Every order routes through an authentication centre before shipping to the buyer. Nike sued the company over its Vault NFT project and alleged counterfeit sales. It raised $255 million in early 2021 at a $3.8 billion valuation, then cut staff in 2022 and again in January 2024 alongside a marketing restructuring. It remains privately held and independent.
