The Elder Statesman is a Los Angeles label founded in 2007 by Greg Chait, who started with hand-dyed cashmere blankets sold through Maxfield. It produces most of its knitwear in-house at a downtown LA workshop, using hand-spun yarns, handlooms and in-house dyeing. Signature pieces include tie-dye and intarsia cashmere sweaters, blankets, hats and loungewear in a relaxed California cut. Chrome Hearts holds a minority investment in the business. The brand runs a West Hollywood boutique and expanded to New York in 2024.
