Thebe Magugu
Thebe Magugu is an independent womenswear label founded in 2016 in Johannesburg by designer Thebe Magugu, who studied fashion design, photography and media at LISOF before launching the brand. In 2019 he became the first African designer to win the LVMH Prize, and he shows on the Paris calendar. Collections are research-driven, pairing tailored suiting, pleated skirts and graphic prints with narratives about South African politics, history and spirituality — as in the AW18 "Home Economics" collection responding to femicide.
