What to know about VASCO

VASCO is a small Japanese leather goods label founded in 2009 by Ken Namiki, working from an atelier in Koenji, Tokyo styled like the interior of an old ship. Named after explorer Vasco da Gama, it builds bags and accessories around a "tools for the journey" concept: shoulder and Boston bags, backpacks, wallets, belts and pouches in vegetable-tanned Himeji cowhide, hand-dyed and given a "kogashi" finish for immediate vintage character, with brass hardware and handmade Tokyo construction.
