Velvet Canyon
Velvet Canyon is an independent Australian eyewear label founded in 2018 by sisters Bec Nolan and Cass Moase with Los Angeles-based photographer Ali Mitton, operating between Byron Bay and LA. The range centres on 1960s and 1970s-referencing acetate sunglasses — oversized ovals, angular cat-eyes and softly rounded shapes — in caramel, tortoise and smoky neutrals with champagne-gold detailing and custom-tinted lenses. Frames are cruelty-free and vegan, shipped in vegan leather pouches, with a share of sales directed to refugee-support charities. Sold direct plus wholesale at Lane Crawford and Ssense; typical frames run about $250-$350.
