Cold Picnic

Cold Picnic is a New York design studio founded in 2010 by partners Phoebe Sung and Peter Buer, both former corporate apparel and print designers. The independent, self-owned label makes hand-tufted and woven wool and bamboo-silk rugs, cotton bathmats, quilts, pillows, blankets, wallpaper and fabric, produced with artisan workshops in India and a family-run knitter in New Jersey. Designs favour abstract landscapes, faces, bodies and animal motifs in muted, saturated colour. Collaborations include the Brooklyn Museum, Systemarosa and editor Newell Turner. Sung and Buer now work from upstate New York.
