Elena Velez runs her eponymous New York label, drawing on a Milwaukee shipyard upbringing: forged and cast metal hardware, corsetry, draped jersey and muddied, torn finishes on gowns and separates. Collections show at New York Fashion Week and are produced in part with Midwestern makers. Velez won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and CFDA Emerging Designer of the Year in 2022 and joined the CFDA in 2023. In February 2026 the label partnered with net-art collective Remilia Corporation on Remilia Atelier, debuting a Universal Work Suit.
