Montane

Montane is a British outdoor apparel and equipment maker founded in 1993 and based in Ashington, Northumberland. Founding directors Chris Roff and Jake Doxat met on a 1989 expedition to southern Chile. The brand is built on fast-and-light layering: the 1997 Extreme Smock and Extreme range used by mountain rescue teams, the Eight Smock early softshell, and Featherlite windshirts. Current ranges cover waterproof shells, synthetic and down insulation, fleece, trail-running kit and packs. Its "Further. Forever." programme added "Know What You're Buying" product-transparency information. Investment firm Inverleith holds a stake.
