Threadless is a Chicago-based online artist community and print-on-demand marketplace founded in 2000 by Jake Nickell and Jacob DeHart, who started it as a forum t-shirt design contest with $1,000. Community members submit graphic designs each week and public voting decides which get printed. Output centers on graphic tees, hoodies, art prints, phone cases and home goods. Its Artist Shops platform lets independent creators run storefronts on Threadless printing and fulfillment, alongside licensed pop-culture partnerships. The company marked its 25th anniversary in 2025 and remains independent under SkinnyCorp LLC.
