Umber & Ochre is a San Francisco-based slow-fashion label founded in 2011 by Mumbai-raised designer Kunal Desai, whose family worked in the apparel trade. The brand follows a "field-to-fabric" philosophy, using only natural fibers and dyes drawn from native plants and minerals, with handwoven textiles and small-batch, limited-edition fabrics produced at family-run factories in India. Collections cover men's and women's shirting, chore coats, tunics and dresses in ikat, bandhani, khes and denim, plus accessories and home textiles. It sells direct online, wholesale via Faire, and through independent stockists.
