Yuketen is a handcrafted footwear label founded in 1989 by Osaka-born designer Yuki Matsuda, who moved to the United States in 1985 and built it under his Los Angeles-based Meg Company umbrella alongside Monitaly. The brand reinterprets 1930s and 1940s American outdoor and workwear archetypes — moccasins, Maine Guide boots, camp mocs, Goodyear-welted derbies and sandals — using Horween leathers, Vibram soles and genuine moccasin construction. Production runs through small factories in Maine, Mexico and Europe, with single pairs taking up to 120 hours. It remains independent, selling direct and through specialist stockists.
