A Dicianoveventitre
A Diciannoveventitre, also known as A1923, is the footwear and leather-goods label of self-taught Italian designer Simone Cecchetto, an original member of Maurizio Altieri's Carpe Diem studio. The name honors Cecchetto's grandmother Augusta and her birth year, 1923. Shoes are handmade in Italy from shell cordovan, llama and vegetable-tanned leathers, using hand-dyeing and old-world construction. Signatures include curved-sole derbies and sculptural boots, alongside bags and belts. A wabi-sabi approach treats irregularity and patina as part of the design. It sells through avant-garde stockists including SSENSE, Antonioli, Archive and H. Lorenzo.
