Ben Sherman is a British menswear label founded in Brighton in 1963 by Arthur Benjamin Sugarman, built around button-down Oxford shirts adopted by Mod, skinhead, Northern Soul and Britpop subcultures. The current range covers gingham and check shirts, Harrington and Mod jackets, knit polos, chinos, footwear and Union Jack-trimmed accessories, sold through wholesale, licensing and bensherman.com. Oxford Industries sold the brand to New York-based Marquee Brands in July 2015 for $63.7 million; Marquee still owns it. Marketing leans on British music heritage and archive reissues.
