Children of the Discordance is a Tokyo label founded in 2011 by designer Hideaki Shikama, born 1980, who won the Tokyo Fashion Award in 2018. The name pairs youth culture ("Children") with reconstructed vintage ("Discordance"). Collections rework sourced vintage textiles, scarves, bandanas and denim into patchwork shirts, outerwear and accessories, so most pieces are one-of-a-kind. The aesthetic pulls from streetwear, skate and hip-hop, alongside traditional dress from around the world. Past collaborators include Nike and Stussy. Sold through Japanese retailers such as Nubian Tokyo.
