Chimala

Chimala is a denim and vintage-workwear label designed by Noriko Machida, with garments made in Japan from Japanese fabrics. Collections rework mid-century Americana, drawing on 1940s-70s military, farm and workwear, and are built around authentic selvedge denim with hand-finished washes and period-correct detailing. Jeans in narrow, straight and wide cuts anchor the range, alongside button-up shirts, sweatshirts and outerwear. Many pieces are unisex and the womenswear leans androgynous, a rarity among Japanese selvedge lines. Distribution stays deliberately small, through a limited set of independent boutiques worldwide.
