What changes: Punk/dadaist irony over sculptural glamour; no it-bag
Brand profile
Raul Lopez's Brooklyn-rooted New York label pairing sculptural tailoring with the accessible, circular-handled Ana it-bag.

Luar is the New York label founded in 2011 by Dominican-American designer Raul Lopez, a Hood By Air co-founder who named it by reversing his first name. After shuttering in 2014 and a later hiatus, it relaunched in 2021 with sculptural tailoring, exaggerated shoulders and ballroom-inflected runway showmanship rooted in Lopez's Williamsburg upbringing. The circular-handled Ana bag, introduced in 2021 at roughly $235 to $395, became an accessible it-bag and helped win Lopez the 2022 CFDA Accessories Designer of the Year award. Collaborators include MAC Cosmetics and American Express.
