Vaquera is a New York label founded in 2013 by Patric DiCaprio, later joined by Bryn Taubensee, Claire Sully and David Moses; DiCaprio and Taubensee lead design today. The name means "cowgirl" in Spanish. Collections rework American wardrobe staples through a punk, DIY and dadaist lens: exaggerated boxer shorts, distressed denim, warped preppy tailoring, lace and logo-parody pieces such as the Tiffany shopping-bag dress. The brand shows on the Paris runway calendar and sells through Dover Street Market and SSENSE.
