Mephisto
Mephisto is a family-run French footwear manufacturer making walking shoes, sandals, loafers and boots in Sarrebourg, with a second factory in Portugal opened in 1991. Construction centres on hand-lasted leather uppers and Soft-Air midsoles for shock absorption, alongside the Mobils removable-footbed line, the Sano rocker-sole range and the sportier Allrounder label. Shoes sell through franchised Mephisto Shops, independent comfort-footwear retailers and the brand's own site. The company remains controlled by the Michaeli family, descendants of founder Martin Michaeli, and employs several hundred staff in Moselle.
