New Era is an American headwear company founded in Buffalo, New York in 1920 by Ehrhardt Koch and still led by the Koch family, with private equity firm ACON Investments holding a significant stake. Its 59FIFTY structured fitted cap, worn on-field across Major League Baseball, anchors a licensed portfolio covering more than 500 sports and entertainment properties, alongside snapbacks, apparel and bags. The label leans on streetwear collaborations and city-specific drops. In August 2024 New Era completed its acquisition of Boston sports-lifestyle brand '47, forming a roughly $2 billion business.
