Sebago
Sebago makes handsewn American casual footwear, founded in 1946 in Westbrook, Maine by Daniel Wellehan with partners William Beaudoin and Joseph Cordeau. Its core styles are the beefroll penny loafer and the Docksides boat shoe, launched in 1970 with non-slip rubber outsole, rawhide lacing and rust-resistant eyelets, and later fixed in preppy and Ivy dress codes. Italian group BasicNet — owner of Kappa, K-Way, Superga and Woolrich Europe — bought the brand from Wolverine Worldwide in 2017 for about $14.25 million and now runs it from Turin, expanding seasonal colorways and nautical-leaning collections.
